The Aurora R8 School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Lucas Vert as the district’s new Activities Director and Safety Coordinator.
Vert brings a strong background in education, coaching, and athletic leadership to Aurora R8. During his career, he has served as an athletic director, physical education and health teacher, and coach at Greenwood Laboratory School, Fair Play High School, and Crane High School. His experience includes leading programs in basketball, baseball, track and field, and other activities while supporting student-athletes both in the classroom and in competition.
A graduate of Galena High School, Vert earned his degree in Physical Education from Missouri State University. Growing up in a family of educators and coaches, he developed a passion for athletics at an early age and has gained experience working with a wide variety of sports throughout his career.
“I am very excited and thankful to have been named Activities Director and Safety Coordinator at Aurora R8,” said Vert. “Having the opportunity to lead the Houn Dawg athletic programs is an honor. I look forward to building positive relationships with our coaches and student-athletes and creating an environment where they can grow and succeed. I am excited for the journey ahead and look forward to helping make it a success.”
“Mr. Vert will be a great addition to the Houn’ Dawg Family! His experiences will allow him to relate to the coaches/sponsors and unite the Co-Extra Curricular Staff to a singular purpose!”. Dr. Yocom shared. “Mr. Vert will also work well with Mr. Gish and the other safety staff.” Dr. Yocom added.
